Ice Breakers:
Week 1-4 (TONAL FOCUS)
Week 1 is major key
We do core body movements, not asking the kids to do it. We do two-part harmony singing the child’s name.
Week 2 is minor key
By second week we ask parent (not child) to do core body movement. (Possibly asking parents for core movement the first week as well).
Week 3 major
Child’s name + we ask the children to make a random noise (what does your favorite animal sound like). We apply this sound to the song we are singing. The animal sound should get repeated several times.
Week 4 minor
Child’s name + we ask the children to make a random noise (what does your favorite animal sound like). We apply this sound to the song we are singing. The animal sound should get repeated several times.
Week 5-8 (INTRODUCE INSTRUMENTS)
Week 5 major key
Child's name, instrument and some object (favorite animal or food).
Week 6 minor
Child's name, instrument and some object (favorite animal or food).
Week 7 major
Child's name, instrument and some object (favorite animal or food).
Week 8 minor
Child's name, instrument and some object (favorite animal or food).
Week 9-12 (INTRODUCE MOVEMENT)
Week 9
Child's name, sound and movement (sound of an animal)
Week 10
Child's name, a feeling, and then doing a sound and a movement for that feeling
Week 11
Child's name, feeling, object, and movement-sequence of movements
Week 12
Repeat previous week
No matter if the child is too young...the parents should model what we are working toward.
